The purpose of this web site is simply to facilitate volleyball cruises by encouraging cruise operators to book them, and to provide information to volleyball players about the availability of such cruises. It is NOT a commercial venture. The creator is a law professor and volleyball enthusiast, not a cruise promoter, and it was created because there is no other web site devoted to volleyball cruises, and -- at the moment -- no other scheduled volleyball cruises that I know about. |
A volleyball cruise lets you enjoy all the fun of an ordinary ocean cruise, and at the same time play volleyball on board ship and in port with other volleyball enthusiasts. Many volleyball cruises feature famous players to provide tips and run drills to help improve your play. Best of all, volleyball
cruises combine the opportunity for volleyball enthusiasts to play and
learn more volleyball, and for them and their families to enjoy all of
the other activities onboard a modern cruise ship. |
If you like to play competitive volleyball, and want to learn more about volleyball cruises, check out this web site and the clickable links on this page. Then, if you think you might be interested, use the form to add your name to an email list designed to let you know when volleyball cruises are planned. There's absolutely no obligation, and your email address will NOT be sold or traded to anyone else. |

| BACKGROUND:
In 1999 I signed up to go on my first volleyball
cruise. It was a seven-day trip, and every day I got to play
competitive volleyball with other volleyball enthusiasts. On four days when we were at sea, we played on an outdoor court where we received instruction, tips, and coaching from four well-known professional volleyball players: Karch Kiraly, Mike Whitmarsh, Matt Unger, and Scott Friederichsen. On the three days when we were in port, we got to play volleyball with these pros and with each other on sand courts set upon beaches especially for our use. I had a lot of fun playing volleyball, and also being able to engage in all of the other ship board activities including (at least on this cruise): rock climbing, ice skating, swimming, basketball, etc. Best of all, unlike so many other vacations where there either was no volleyball, or the game was played by recreational players who don't know the rules or even where to position themselves, I was always able to find people ready, willing, and able to play good competitive volleyball, and to learn from each other. Another participant on the same cruise called it "one of the best things I have ever done!" You can read his description of the trip on AIPT - Success Story . Still another wrote about it on his web site: Long Island Volleyball Meet Me Finally, to see some more pictures from volleyball cruises, visit Williamson 1999 - AVP Volleyball Cruise and Dave and Graces' Caribbean Cruise. |

THE PROBLEM: Early in 2001 I decided that I wanted to go on another volleyball cruise. However, the tour operators who put together my 1999 cruise were not sponsoring a new volleyball cruise. Moreover, even after a reasonably diligent search of the internet and a perusal of volleyball magazines, I was unable to find any scheduled volleyball cruises then. That's the reason why I took the time to construct this
web site. I'm a law professor
and volleyball enthusiast;
not a tour operator, travel agent, cruise promoter, etc. I'm
simply trying to see if there is enough interest among other volleyball
enthusiasts for volleyball cruises in the future. That's why I'm trying to work with them to fill
the few spaces which still remain so that the cruise will be a go.
I'm not making any money or seeking any compensation. So, if you think you might be interested in this
Dec '04 volleyball cruise, or if you just want to be kept advised of
any more volleyball cruises in the future, please send me an email by
